2023 AMERICAN WINERY OF THE YEAR - Wine Enthusiast
Winemaker Notes
The 2021 vintage continues our signature profile of a slightly
softer, and approachable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This rich and refined wine does not require years
of further aging to achieve ideal balance and enjoy upon release. The full-bodied structure is a hallmark.
The wine opens with stunning aromas of blackberry, black currant, and toasty notes of cedar; the palate is
concentrated with bold, velvety flavours of black cherry and a hint of spice. Intense, concentrated fruit
and fine grained tannins with beautifully balanced acidity extends to an elegant finish.
Black Stallion is located on the historic Silverado Trail in Napa Valley's Oak Knoll
District, and was once home to the Silverado Equestrian Center, an indoor arena that welcomed up to 3,000
visitors. The property's name pays homage to this equestrian history, and today its 32 hectares cover some of
Napa's most prestigious vineyards. Dedicated to producing small-batch, site-specific Cabernet Sauvignon, they
have built a stellar reputation for their age worthy, expressive wines with dense, dark berry fruit and medium
high acidity.
92 Points, Wine Enthusiast (previous vintage)
This handsome, well-structured wine deftly balances refined black fruits and subtle
oak spices against fine-grained tannins. It has an elegance and polish that sets it apart, from the minty
perfume to intricate fruits and a long finish. Best from 2026–2036.
