CHÂTEAU CARAGUILHES

Château de Caraguilhes is a sprawling 600-hectare property that stretches across the Corbieres region in the south of France. Over 130 hectares of the property are under the vine, which are surrounded by garrigue (wild land). The vineyards are just 30 kilometers from the Mediterranean sea, which helps to mitigate disease pressure and boosts acidity levels. Caraguilhes has been committed to organic farming since 1987 and the vineyards have been certified organic since 1992.

40% Grenache Noir, 20% Carignan, 25% Syrah, 15% Cinsault

Bright, deep color demonstrating beautiful freshness, intense purple reflections at the edge of the glass, a sign of dashing youth. The nose offers a very nice intensity of fruit aromas: raspberry highlighted by harmonious flavors of cherry. The complexity of the nose brings maturity to this young wine. Very silky attack with these notes of crushed raspberry and burlat cherry which highlight the fleshy side of this wine. The tannins
give the wine very good hold, reinforcing the overall balance. It is a fleshy, crunchy, pleasurable wine, easy to share.

Pair with duck with olives, roast pork with prunes, Aberdeen Angus beef ribs, duck breast, roast beef, grilled lamb chops…

Brilliant clarity, very pale yellow with green reflections showing a beautiful freshness. Very expressive with lively lemony notes. Beautiful salivating freshness. The Viognier brings here all its aromatic fullness on the palate without heaviness, supported by the freshness of the Colombard. A pleasure wine to drink simply, with friends.

Pair with grilled mussels, monkfish with fennel, oysters, or on its own as an aperitif.

Winemaker Notes

Delicate color with purple reflections, hint of lightness. An airy nose that opens with notes of thyme and rosemary, but also brioche bread that then opens with more subtle flavors of peony and raspberry. Delicate, fresh and delicious. The wine is frank and juicy. The Cinsault offers itself to us without shame. Pairs perfectly with  Iberian pork ribs with thyme, capon braised with rosemary, pasta with ham Parma & sage.

100% Cinsault from the Olivette plot. Harvest destemmed, crushed and aged for 3 months in concrete vats then bottled. No added sulphites.

A pale yellow wine, bright and clear, showing freshness and elegance.

The white Grenache has a unique character and an elegant complexity, with seductive aromas of lemon and grapefruit. After aeration, it is the minerality which comes to the fore, with subtle notes of white flowers and redcurrants.  As the Solus gains power, it reveals a certain distinctive purity through notes of fresh almonds and toasted bread.  Rounded and vibrant, with a long mineral finish, a perfect expression of the Boutenac terroir.

Pair with rock lobster in aspic, coquilles St Jacques, sole with wild mushrooms, foie gras with quince jelly… or our favourite, turbot en croûte with herb butter.

Winemaker Notes

40% Carignan, 40% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah. Hand-picked grapes. 65% vinified for 10 months in French oak barrels. 35% vinified in concrete vats.

Intense aromas of dark fruits (blackberry, cherry) are followed by wonderfully melting notes of « garrigue », strengthening the freshness of this 2021 vintage.  The palate is soft, fresh and well-balanced. The three grape varieties, each one perfectly adapted to our site, combine beautifully to create a wine with a strong and individual personality. It sounds like 2020 vintage in a softness way … Mourvèdre and Carignan lend great finesse to this classy and elegant wine.

Pair with quail with truffles, entrecôte steak, rabbit with plums, pork with caramel sauce, confit de canard, fine cheeses, smoked duck, beef wagyu. The satiny fruit of the Solus red means it can also be enjoyed on its own.
