Duncan Savage is arguably one of the most exciting winemakers in South Africa today. Savage Wines started out as a side project for Duncan in 2011 while working at Cape Point Vineyards where he was Winemaker for 14 years. It was there he gained a wealth of knowledge about coastal vineyards and earned a reputation for crafting profound, saline whites with fantastic aging potential. He initially started making wine for the Savage label in other peoples’ cellars with grapes he had sourced from various maritime and high altitude sites. The wines quickly garnered wide critical acclaim and in 2016 Duncan quit his day job and opened his own winery in an urban space in Cape Town’s Salt River neighbourhood.
"Duncan Savage thinks he hasn't hit his full potential yet. Heaven help his rivals when he does."
