An architect by trade, Elena Walch grew up in Milan, studied in Venice, and set up her own architectural practice in Bolzano, the capital of Alto Adige. Then, in the mid nineteen eighties, she was commissioned to restore a castle and winery property in Termeno, which led to her marrying into one of the region’s oldest winemaking families. Elena quickly turned her attention to the family business, developing a passion for winemaking and bringing modern, innovative ideas to the traditional estate. More than forty years later, she has elevated the quality of wine coming out of the estate, and the region as a whole. She is known for making pure, intense, mineral white wines from single-vineyard sites. Today, she manages the property along with her twodaughters, Julia and Karoline, who represent the fifth generation.
