Albariño
A fabulous fresh and easy-drinking style of Albariño from the coastal area of Salnés in Rías Baixas - an area where ancient salt flats once stood in place of today’s vineyards (hence the name). A fresh and fun style of Albariño, perfect for enjoying with friends, with or without food. Aromatic notes of green apple, pear, melon, and white flowers. On the palate, it is crisp, saline, and mineral-driven, offering a balanced,, and elegant profile with high acidity.Iria ferments and ages the wine in stainless steel to preserve that freshness, leaving it on its lees for just 3 months to add a little texture and balance. Grown on 20-25 years old vines, on a mixture of decomposed granite soils, which really enhance the fresh, saline character of the Albariño grapes. Organic and relatively low intervention but not yet certified, terroir driven wines and very small production.
92 Points, Wine Advocate,
The 2024 Sal, an Albariño from Rías Baixas, a wine I had not tasted before, was produced with grapes from her own vineyards in the Salnés Valley in rented space in a winery within the appellation. It's a fresh and Atlantic varietal, fermented in stainless steel and matured with lees for three months. It combines citrus and floral notes with hints of sea breeze and feels elegant and balanced, showing well despite its youth. 33,300 bottles produced.
