Pyramid Valley Vineyards is one of New Zealand's great wine estates. Founders Mike and Claudia Elze Weersing established the site in North Canterbury and planted the vineyards in the year 2000. Together they created remarkable wines for close to 20 years. They used only biodynamic viticulture and gained a world-wide reputation for their superb Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 2017 the Weersings sold the estate to Steve Smith MW (perhaps best known for establishing Craggy Range) and his business partner and wildlife conservationist Brian Sheth. The estate remains tended according to the holistic principles of biodynamics and continues to produce wines with enormous personality that express their unique cool climate terroir.
