While 2016 represents the true beginning of a new stylistic era focusing on textural richness, we can clearly see that the transitional 2015 vintage featured the early-stage implementation of many of the new foundations to come. Amongst the new ideas and building blocks percolating and put into action at this preliminary stage was a significant increase in oak elevage and partial malolactic fermentations.
A blend of 78% Chardonnay and 22% Pinot Noir from 2 parcels sustainably farmed by Benjamin Bridge and picked between October 18th and 20th, the 2015 Brut features the generosity of the warmest vintage since 2012.
In the glass, a pale straw with gold highlights. On the nose, rich and intense aromas of honey, orange and toast are brightened by chalky white limestone undertones. The palate is dense and complex, with vinous flavours of lemons, grapefruits and acacia honey. The wine’s substantial depth and volume come with a touch of youthful austerity that promises to unwind with age.
