This wine comes from the first certified organic estate in the Loire Valley and in 2021 they will be fully biodynamic certified as well. The wines are made from 10 hectares worth of Sauvignon Blanc planted around the winery, which is located in the village of Saint Andelain on the east side of the Loire (facing Sancerre). Biodynamic practices are taken within the vineyard and winery and the wines are naturally fermented in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts and aged in either vat, barrique or amphora.
The vines for this wine are grown in limestone. The wine has a very fresh nose with mineral notes to it. This mineral sensation continues on the palate; the wine is fresh and elegant with an abundance of citrus fruit.
92 Points, Rebecca Gibb (Vinous)
The 2019 Sancerre Caillotttes is a very pure wine that might be full in body and seamless in texture but displays a light touch. The wine coats the palate with a powdery texture, as if it were a red wine. The long finish is redolent of gunsmoke and almond.
