Telmo Rodriguez Almuvedre - 2024
A consistent favourite in the extensive Telmo Rodriguez portfolio, and one of the best-value wines in a country not short on bargains. This 100% Monastrell (Mourvèdre) is intense, sinewy and dark but with a seam of brightness that makes it effortlessly drinkable.
Baglio di Grisi Nero d'Avola - 2024
Deep red wine, with a bouquet rich in cherry scents and sweet fragrances of fresh red berry fruits. Intense and harmonious on the palate, it reveals an important structure. Pleasantly tannic and persistent in the finish.
Decero 'Remolinos Vineyard' Malbec - 2024
Leafy notes on the nose blend with blackberry jam. This wine is medium-bodied and has a herbaceous character, with soft flavours of black fruit and tobacco. Cacao, fresh blackberries and blueberries with hints of violets and lemon zest. This fresh quality to the blue and black-fruit character extends to the palate, showing fluidity, coherence and drinkability. Lovely now, but will hold for a few years, too.
Howard Park Terroir Cabernet - 2024
The Margaret River region’s flagship red variety puts in a stellar performance here. An opaque maroon hue, the nose offers notes of aniseed, soy, graphite, tobacco leaves, chocolate and blackberries. It is a powerful wine, but well balanced and has focus. A supple texture supports a sweet core of black cherries on the palate. There are silky tannins on a lingering finish. Fabulous value and the potential to improve even further, this will provide pleasure for the next six to twelve years.
