Ramey Wine Cellars was founded in 1996 by David Ramey and his wife Carla. David is a true pioneer of traditional artisan winemaking techniques in California. At a time when making wine using “by the book” conventional methods was the norm, he began using practices considered revolutionary by applying old-world techniques he learned working in France to the perfectly ripe fruit of Napa and Sonoma. His groundbreaking work with indigenous yeasts, sur lies aging, whole-cluster pressing and malolactic and barrel fermentation yielded a new California style that was richer, more lush and silky smooth than previously known. As a result, David has become one of California’s most respected winemakers and has created a benchmark style now emulated by many. He takes chances, often harvesting his grapes at the last possible moment to create his signature Burgundian style wines that are widely praised by his peers, consumers and critics alike.
Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard
$144.99 x 6Regular price $769.86 PER CASE
97 Points, Wine Advocate
The 2019 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is age-worthy and expressive—the aromatic intensity is turned up and flavors are notably pure and in focus. It unfolds scents of lemon oil, Greek yogurt, petrichor, flint and underlying wafts of cheese rind as it spends time in the glass. The palate is youthfully taut, displaying the saline and tanginess characteristic of youthful Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay—this will require plenty of time to unwind in bottle.
Chardonnay Russian River Valley
$96.99 x 6Regular price $514.99 PER CASE
Coming from special vineyard sites, our Chardonnays show great depth of flavor, length of finish, aromatic complexity, and a fine balance between richness and delicacy. Typically, the climate is cool and the soil vigor low, producing graceful yet vibrant wines. - David Ramey
Eric Asimov, The New York Times:
David Ramey is one of the wise men of the modern California wine industry. He’s had 40-plus years in the business, making wine for others and for Ramey Wine Cellars, his family label. This succulent, energetic chardonnay from selected vineyards in the Russian River Valley is a picture of balance and harmony, tightly wound with floral, herbal and lively fruit flavors.
Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
$139.99 x 6Regular price $743.31 PER CASE
94 Points, Wine Enthusiast
This wine vastly overdelivers on its price point—a rarity in its category and peers. Made from grapes throughout the appellation, the majority from St. Helena, it blends in small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cab Franc. Turned earth, pungent tobacco leaf and currant define its savory, substantially structured elegance that offers room to age.
Syrah Sonoma Coast
$84.99 x 6Regular price $451.27 PER CASE
Our Syrahs are grown in the cool climate of the Sonoma Coast which offers a style reminiscent of the Northern Rhone regions of Hermitage and Cornas: aromas and flavors of smoked meat, white pepper, green olive and grapefruit, coupled with a silky texture and savory flavor.
