WINE CELLARS
Ramey Wine Cellars was founded in 1996 by David Ramey and his wife Carla. David is a true pioneer of traditional artisan winemaking techniques in California. At a time when making wine using “by the book” conventional methods was the norm, he began using practices considered revolutionary by applying old-world techniques he learned working in France to the perfectly ripe fruit of Napa and Sonoma. His groundbreaking work with indigenous yeasts, sur lies aging, whole-cluster pressing and malolactic and barrel fermentation yielded a new California style that was richer, more lush and silky smooth than previously known. As a result, David has become one of California’s most respected winemakers and has created a benchmark style now emulated by many. He takes chances, often harvesting his grapes at the last possible moment to create his signature Burgundian style wines that are widely praised by his peers, consumers and critics alike.

Coming from special vineyard sites, our Chardonnays show great depth of flavour, length of finish, aromatic complexity, and a fine balance between richness and delicacy. Typically, the climate is cool and the soil vigour low, producing graceful yet vibrant wines. - David Ramey
Eric Asimov, The New York Times,
David Ramey is one of the wise men of the modern California wine industry. He’s had 40-plus years in the business, making wine for others and for Ramey Wine Cellars, his family label. This succulent, energetic chardonnay from selected vineyards in the Russian River Valley is a picture of balance and harmony, tightly wound with floral, herbal and lively fruit flavours.

Cabernet Sauvignon
On the old-school side, with a nice grippy structure and a swath of warm earth holding down the fort, while the core of red and black currant reduction notes unwind slowly. Packs heavy tobacco and cast iron on the finish. Best from 2025 through 2034.
94 Points, Jeb DunnuckThe 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, which includes the addition of 7% Petit Verdot and 2% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, pours a deep, nearly opaque blackish red hue. Its classic aromas of toasted cedar, black currants, fresh leather, and tobacco leaf are followed by a full-bodied red with good energy and balance throughout. It offers ripe tannins, a fine, soft texture, and ripe black cherry, fresh violets, and tea leaf. It’s a beautifully expressive wine with great drinkability.

Sourced entirely from Charles Ranch and pouring a pale straw color, the 2021 Chardonnay Fort Ross-Seaview is fresh and lifted with aromas of salted lime, sea spray, agave, and green pineapple. On the palate. this medium-bodied white is spritely with notes of crunchy fresh fruit and has a silky soft, stony texture to round out its linear drive. It’s fresh with vibrant energy and ripe fruit, white peach, and fresh flowers. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.

96 Points, Wine Advocate
The 2020 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard was harvested on August 17th before the wildfire smoke arrived, and with its pure, mineral-driven expression, it's worth cellaring for several years. The nose opens with iodine and nori tones that give way to pretty scents of panna cotta, spring honey and lilac. The medium-bodied palate is buzzing with shimmery acidity that enlivens its perfumed fruit, and it has a long, saline-driven finish.
