Baglio di Grisi was founded in the 1930s by Dr. Mario Di Lorenzo, one of Sicily’s wine pioneers. The estate is located high above the Mediterranean Sea in the historic village of Monreale, between Palermo and Trapani, an area that was historically used as pastures and for growing seed crops. Di Lorenzo transformed this remote rural area, into lush vineyards and olive groves and after decades of experimentation, realized that international grapes like Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon could perform exceedingly well there. Today they hold organic certification and use sustainable techniques which respect the terroir, something they believe to be absolutely essential to produce wines of great quality.
