Younger, more accessible version of the Brunello, but already with an excellent structure and a great personality, Rosso di Montalcino is a very important wine for Tenuta Il Poggione.

Produced entirely from Sangiovese grapes, sourced in the estate's younger vineyards, Rosso di Montalcino is aged in large casks and barriques before a period of bottle aging. The wood aging, although not obligatory for the production of Rosso di Montalcino, tones down the tannins typical of a young Sangiovese and gives this red wine a complexity of aroma and structure that make it a great "Young Brunello".

Intense ruby red colour. Fruity bouquet with red berry notes. Very well structured, yet soft, long-lasting flavour with smooth, velvety tannins.

On the old-school side, with a nice grippy structure and a swath of warm earth holding down the fort, while the core of red and black currant reduction notes unwind slowly. Packs heavy tobacco and cast iron on the finish. Best from 2025 through 2034.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, which includes the addition of 7% Petit Verdot and 2% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, pours a deep, nearly opaque blackish red hue. Its classic aromas of toasted cedar, black currants, fresh leather, and tobacco leaf are followed by a full-bodied red with good energy and balance throughout. It offers ripe tannins, a fine, soft texture, and ripe black cherry, fresh violets, and tea leaf. It’s a beautifully expressive wine with great drinkability.

Very youthful colour, deep and dense with almost purple hue. Quintessential Rubicon nose with violets, ripe plum, cedar wood, fennel, and intense spiciness. Typical liquorice notes also evident on the nose. Still young and intense, the palate is full bodied, structured but packed with fresh dark fruit and rounded tannins and seamlessly integrated oak.

The Rubicon is a true expression of the Meerlust estate and draws fruit from their four distinctive terroirs. Each terroir provides a unique element to the final blend.

Deep, dark and very serious on the nose, boasting layers of raisined cranberries, dried strawberries, red currants and subtle perfumed hints of rose petals and violets. While the aromatics might be slightly shyer than usual, the palate displays a wonderfully toasty, savoury depth of red and black berry fruits, cherry cordial, wild strawberry and a sappy, spicy finish. There is plenty of depth with supporting structure but also an accessibility with a delicious dark fruited opulence.

Duncan is no doubt one of the best winemakers in South Africa. In fact, Tim Atkin (MW) has proclaimed, "Duncan Savage thinks he hasn't hit his full potential yet. Heaven help his rivals when he does.

This is a supple and delicious red showing aromas of paprika, wild herbs, strawberries and red cherries on the nose. Very soft tannins that melt in your mouth. Medium-bodied, fresh and fruit-driven.

Gigondas offers a rich bouquet with fine fruity spicy aromas sunny colour ranging from ruby to dark garnet. The nose reveals of red fruits very ripe black fruits. Full-bodied fleshy grenache noir releases all expression its power in this shimmering wine. Marked tannins and structured body with great aptitude for aging.

This is a voluptuous, mouth-coating Grenache augmented by smaller proportions of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Its black plum and mulberry flavours are intensely ripe and juicy, but it's a nuanced wine accented by flecks of peppery spice, espresso and violet, and a upright streak of acidity that anchors the finish. Approachable young, but should improve further well through 2035
