SAINTSBURY

Winemakers and Pinot Noir enthusiasts Richard Ward and David Graves first met in 1977 while taking a brewing class during their graduate studies in Enology at UC Davis. They went on to work at several Napa wineries together including Chappellet and Stag’s Leap and in 1981 they established Saintsbury Winery. Located in the Carneros region of California's Napa Valley, the winery established its reputation early on for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and has long been a champion of these varieties. The name pays homage to George Saintsbury, an English professor known for writing the book “Notes on a Cellar” who’s quotes can be found on their bottles today.
